Common Water Problems in your region.

Detailed View of the Causes & Solutions

There are a variety of factors that affect the quality of your water. Our licensed regional experts will help you define the issue and create a customized solution to ensure your drinking water is free of contaminants and other issues such as water hardness or odor. We test your water before recommending treatment. It is this consultation that is key in helping us design the perfect solution, built for you.

Arsenic, Radon, PFAS, Trihalomethanes & Haloacetic Acid, Bacteria

Arsenic, Radon, PFA’s, THM’s, and bacteria are health threats that lurk in our water system. They cannot be detected without testing.

Arsenic and radon are more likely to be found in well water. These health threats in water supplies need the attention of a professional.

How to Treat Arsenic in Drinking Water

While Arsenic is a naturally occurring element in rocks and soil, it can also be an industrial waste byproduct. It can enter the groundwater in both cases. The EPA links long-term exposure of arsenic to various health threats.

Arsenic is undetectable without a thorough water test. If you suspect arsenic may be in your drinking water you’ll want a test sooner rather than later. Filtration systems with arsenic-specific media and Whole House Reverse Osmosis systems will cure your water of arsenic contamination

How To Treat Radon in Drinking Water

Radon is impossible to detect by taste, smell, or visual inspection. Proper testing must be performed by a certified lab. Radon exposure can cause cancer and occurs through two main sources: radon in the air in your home and radon in water, which escapes into the air as it is used for showering, washing dishes, etc.

Whole House Aeration systems release radon through venting to the outdoors. No buildup of radon occurs when this technique is used. For more information about our Radon Systems, click here.

How to Treat PFAs (Per & Polyfluoroalkyl) in Drinking Water

PFAS are man-made chemicals manufactured in the 1950s that created stain-resistant, waterproof, or non-stick properties. They were infamously used for DuPont’s Teflon cookware. These chemicals are associated with some serious health problems.

Carbon Filtration and Whole House Reverse Osmosis systems will remove PFAS contamination from your home’s water.

How to Treat Trihalomethanes (THMs) & Haloacetic Acid in Drinking Water

Federal and state require disinfection of our water supply, using chlorine compounds. THMs and Haloacetic Acid form because of this process. They are colorless compounds that will evaporate from the water. THM’s can be ingested or inhaled and are considered carcinogenic.

These compounds can be removed from your water supply via an Activated Carbon system or a Whole House Reverse Osmosis system.

How to Treat Bacteria in Drinking Water

Bacterial contamination cannot be detected by sight, smell, or taste, only through a water test. Bacterial contamination sources include runoff from feedlots, pastures, dog runs, discharge from treatment facilities, floodwaters. Bacteria cause disease and illness to young and old.

If bacteria is detected in the plumbing system and the home uses well water, Shock Chlorination of the well/water system is the typical first step in addition to visual inspection. If chlorination fails to remedy the issue, Ultraviolet Purification (UV) is the most common solution. UV systems destroy 99.99% of harmful microorganisms without adding chemicals or changing your water’s taste or odor. For more information about our UltraViolet Light Disinfection Systems click here.
